U.S. Rep. Chuck Fleischmann (R-Tenn.) has been named to the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure (T&I).
“I am pleased to welcome Rep. Fleischmann to the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee,” said Chairman John L. Mica (R-Fla.) in a written press statement. “I look forward to working with him as the Committee develops a major transportation reauthorization bill to create jobs and reform federal transportation programs.
“As a small businessperson, Congressman Fleischmann knows the importance of making wise investments in infrastructure and reducing burdensome federal regulations for businesses. His experience and background make him a welcome addition to the Committee.”
On being named to the Committee, Fleischmann said, “I am honored that I have been placed on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. With 75% of the entire United States within a day’s drive of Tennessee, it is an important transportation state – specifically the 3rd District has vital projects like the Chickamauga Lock. I believe my placement on this Committee will help me better serve my constituents, and the entire state of Tennessee.
“While transportation and infrastructure are vitally important to the future of America, and I understand the need to work towards creating a solid, reliable infrastructure system across this great nation, I also understand that our country is spending money it does not have. I am committed to working with the rest of the members of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee to create a strong, competitive and financially viable infrastructure system.”
Rep. Fleischmann’s addition to the Committee brings the Republican roster to a total of 33 Members, and the Full Committee roster to 59. His subcommittee assignments are pending.
