Monty Boyd, Boyd Cat president and CEO.Cat dealers Whayne Supply and Walker Machinery, which merged in 2010 but retained separate identities, are moving forward as one brand, Boyd Cat. The company will continue to be lead by Monty Boyd, president and CEO.
The name change is immediate across both internal and external channels, says the company. The full rollout of business processes and branch updates will happen over the next twelve to twenty-four months.
Boyd Company purchased Whayne Supply in 2008 and Walker Machinery in 2010. Whayne Supply was founded in 1913; Walker Machinery in 1950. Combined, the companies serve Kentucky, Southern Indiana, West Virginia, and Southeastern Ohio. In 2013, Whayne celebrated its 100th anniversary and Walker celebrated its 60th anniversary as a Cat dealer.
“The legacies and traditions of both those great companies live on through our business today – and we will not abandon them, but continue to build on them,” Boyd says.
Working under the Boyd Cat name will allow the company to streamline “processes to make day-to-day operations more efficient and easier for customers through solutions like simpler invoicing, combined machine and parts inventory, and expanded rental fleets,” says the company in a release on the name change. All current staff members will remain in place.
In addition to Cat, the company represents Thomas Built Buses, Western Star trucks, Claas Lexion combines, Massey Ferguson, Challenger tractors, Genie, Sullair, Allmand, among others.
