Komatsu takes over New Jersey sales territory with Komatsu Northeast

Komatsu America has formed Komatsu Northeast, a new business unit that will take over the New Jersey territory for all of the company’s equipment sales and rental for construction, mining and utility, as well as parts, service and customer support.

Binder Machinery Company previously served and supported the state, but the company reports it will retain all employees, facilities and customer support infrastructure from the dealer.

“This investment, in addition to our ownership positions at Midlantic Machinery, and Edward Ehrbar, reflect Komatsu America’s commitment to excellence in the Northeast region of the U.S.,” says Komatsu America CEO Rod Schrader. “I know with the extra support, and the team we have in place, we can deliver unrivaled products, services and solutions that exceed customer expectations.”

ARA Foundation & ARA of Tennessee donate $6,000 for Gatlinburg wildfire relief

The American Rental Association (ARA) Foundation and ARA of Tennessee have donated $6,000 to the American Red Cross for wildfire relief efforts for those in the equipment rental industry, their families and communities in the Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, Tennessee areas.

ARA of Tennessee pulled together $3,000 and the ARA Foundation provided $3,000 through its Matching Funds program.

“This disaster has been so devastating to witness,” says Terry Turner, CERP, American Rental Association (ARA) chairman of the board, ARA Foundation board trustee and owner of All Occasions Party Rentals in Knoxville, which is 35 miles from Gatlinburg.

Boost year-end equipment sales with Section 179 marketing push

Last year’s mid-December long-term bill extending Section 179 removed the usual end-of-the-year uncertainty as to whether the bonus depreciation break would be continued, but that doesn’t mean dealers shouldn’t be motivated to use the tax incentive as a sales tool this year.

Of particular note for dealers, Section 179 tax breaks apply to new, used and leased equipment. The caveat, and why there is usually a crunch in December, is that this is contingent upon the equipment being put into service by midnight Dec. 31.

Under the bill, equipment buyers are to apply a 50 percent bonus depreciation on top of the Section 179 standard depreciation to any equipment bought during a fiscal year. The remainder can be depreciated across the useful life of the equipment.

Hyundai CE names Fuller as dealer product specialist and sales trainer for excavators

Hyundai Construction Equipment Americas has named Michael Fuller as product specialist and sales trainer responsible for training Hyundai dealers with a focus on excavators.

The company says he has 19 years of experience in construction equipment, with 13 years serving as a customer support tech representative at an OEM.
