A plan for $926 million worth of road and bridge projects has been approved by the Oklahoma Transportation Commission through 2022.

The plan calls for improving 800 miles of road and replacing or rehabilitating 400 bridges, according to the Oklahoma Department of Transportation. ODOT says 297 of the bridges are rated as structurally deficient. The agency also plans to use beams saved from the Interstate 40 Crosstown bridge, which was dismantled about five years ago, for more than 40 county bridge projects.

The County Improvements for Roads and Bridges for 2018-2022 is funded by federal, state, local and tribal sources. It can be viewed at odot.org under “Progress and Performance.”

In other business, the commission approved the following:

  • The issuance of up to $70 million in bonds to partially fund extending the Gilcrease Expressway into west Tulsa to Interstate 44.
  • The replacement of about 200 old signs on Interstate 35 between Norman and Edmond.
