Georgia DOT awards $396 million in contracts, including deferred projects

Georgia welcome sign highwayThe Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has awarded $396.2 million in contracts across the state, including projects worth $264 million that had previously been deferred.

GDOT announced last month it would not release 34 federally funded projects for bids in December due to federal funding uncertainty.

A few of the previously deferred projects approved in this latest round of lettings include:

  • $36 million to widen and reconstruct 5.1 miles of CR 455 in Forsyth County, CMES Inc. Completion date: June 30, 2019
  • $36.8 million to widen and reconstruct 8.8 miles on US 84/SR38 and construct six bridges and approach in Ware County, Littlefield Construction. Completion date: May 31, 2019
  • $55.8 million to widen and reconstruct 10 miles on US 84 and construct 12 bridges and approaches in both Clinch and Ware counties, The Scruggs Company. Completion date: June 30, 2019
  • $40 million to resurface and complete operation improvements on I-20 in Cobb, Douglas and Fulton Counties, C.W. Mathews and E.R. Snell. Completion date: December 2016
  • $41.4 million to widen and reconstruct 9.6 miles on US 78/SR 10 in Wilkes and McDuffie counties, Reeves Construction Company. Completion date: May 2019
  • $32.4 million for various widening and reconstruction projects as well as constructing four bridges in in McDuffie County. Undisclosed contractor and completion date.
  • $10.8 million to widen and reconstruction various projects in Chatham County and construct two bridges in Appling and Pierce counties. Undisclosed contractor and completion date.

Some of the new projects include:

  • $28.7 million for work on 7.9 miles on SR 133 in Colquitt County, Reames & Son Construction. Completion date: June 30, 2018
  • $25.3 million for work on I-75/SR 401 in Dooly County, including bridge and approach construction, Reeves Construction. Completion Date: December 31, 2018
