Despite a decrease in national unemployment, the transportation sector experienced a decrease of 28,000 jobs in March, The Hill reported.
Transportation employment decreased from 4,469,900 in February to 4,467,100 in March, marking the fourth consecutive month of transportation job losses.
Transit and ground transportation saw the highest number of gains in March, with 470,300 jobs in March, compared to 464,200 in February–a 6,1000-job increase.
Trucking experienced the highest number of losses last month, with 1,373,100 jobs in March, compared to 1,380,000 in February–a 6,900-job decrease.
Additionally, aviation experienced a loss of 100 jobs, decreasing from 445,600 in February to 445,500 in March, and rail employment decreased by 700 jobs, going from 230,800 in February to 230,100 in March.
