Atlas Copco XAS 950-CD8The XAS 950 portable air compressor from Atlas Copco features new technology that matches the compressor’s engine speed, power and torque with air demand.
Called pressure adjusted through cognitive electronics, or PACE, the technology leads to a 15 to 20 percent increase in fuel savings, the company says.
The technology also enables the compressor a broader operating range, able to handle geothermal drilling, horizontal directional drilling, sandblasting and shotcrete.
Atlas Copco gave the XAS 950 a range of pressure and flow settings, including 950 cubic feet per minute at 100 pounds per square inch, 900 CFM at 150 psi and 750 CFM at 200 psi. The compressor is powered by a liquid-cooled 6-cylinder turbocharged Caterpillar C7.1 Tier 4 Final diesel engine.
The single-stage, oil-injected rotary screw compressor has an operating weight under 8,250 pounds, which the company says makes it about one-third lighter than compressors with similar output.
The XAS 950’s frame is designed to prevent oil, coolant and fuel spills. For easier maintenance, the company gave it a centralized drain system and easy access to service points.
