Employers have until May 15, 2008 to comply with new OSHA guidelines regarding employer payment for personal protective equipment.
To help explain the new PPE standard, the National Safety Council (NSC) will host a web seminar on April 23, 2008 from 10 to 11 a.m. CST. Jim Maddux of OSHA’s Directorate of Standards and Guidance will acquaint these guidelines via a 60-minute interactive web-based tutorial. In addition, Maddux will answer questions on compliance with the PPE standard during the live Q&A session of the Webinar.
If PPE is used a program addressing the hazards present, the selection, maintenance, use of PPE, training of employees and monitoring of the program must be initiated. Personal protective equipment (PPE) hazards are addressed in specific standards for the construction industry.
