AEM produces safety manual in Chinese

To help promote safety in the booming construction industry in China, the Association of Equipment Manufacturers now publishes its hydraulic excavator safety manual in Chinese.

The organization has made a distribution agreement for its new Chinese safety manual with the China Construction Machinery Association, a construction equipment manufacturing trade association in China with more than 800 members. According to AEM, the new distribution agreement with CCMA helps them reach their goal of making the safety manuals available worldwide. CCMA will sell the manual to its members, who include China’s leading excavator manufacturers. The members will in turn hand out the safety guides to their customers when new hydraulic excavators are purchased.

The safety manual, which was written by a group of international excavator manufacturers, includes basic dos and don’ts of excavator operation, with examples of typical daily situations on the jobsite. The manual also features messages in clear text with illustrations. Some of the discussion topics include safe start up, shutdown, operation procedures, maintenance and safety tips.

Approximately 38,000 excavators are sold each year in China, making them one of the most-sold categories of construction equipment in the nation. The Chinese safety manual is the first of AEM’s safety guides to be provided in the language. Select manuals are already available in Spanish and French.
