John L. Ames, president and chief executive of United States Crane, has died at age 76 after a brief illness. John’s wife Julie Ames and daughter Linda Ames were appointed president and vice president of the company. John Ames worked with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration during the early stages of implementing crane inspection, certification and training requirements. He was also a mentor to many fledgling companies during his career.
