One of the biggest drags on the coming infrastructure stimulus package being proposed by President-Elect Obama will be the lack of workers to carry out these ambitious plans. Finding qualified labor was tough enough before the recession and housing market collapse, and despite last year’s layoffs it won’t be any easier this spring.
So the commercial building unit of Ohio-based Kokosing Construction is getting a jump on the gun by actively recruiting workers now. Despite the ramp-up in workers, Kokosing president and chief executive Brian Burgett says “equipment orders will be on hold until the stimulus package clarifies the environment.”
