Worker dies following fall into water-filled trench near Seattle

A construction worker died last week near Seattle after suffering a fall into a trench likely caused by a medical emergency.

According to a report from KCPQ TV, the unidentified worker was found August 28 face down at the bottom of a 10-foot trench with about two feet of water on a jobsite in Bellevue.

Co-workers pulled the man from the trench and administered CPR until rescue crews arrived at the scene. On the way to the hospital, EMTs were able to get a pulse, but the man died later that day at the hospital.

Bellevue Police tell KCPQ the worker likely suffered a medical emergency which caused the fall. He was seen just 15 minutes before the accident occurred. Law enforcement and the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries are investigating the accident.
