The existing 5th Street Bridge was built in 1958 after the original bridge was destroyed in the 1955 Flood.
The new bridge will be a cast-in-place, post-tensioned concrete box girder bridge with 10 spans and four lanes. The plan is to enhance safety, inter-regional traffic circulation, and air quality.
