Cummins Inc. says it will begin hiring later this year in Columbus, Ind. as the company gears up for production of Nissan Titan pickup engines

“There will be some ramping up this year because we are going into production in the fourth quarter,” Cummins Chairman and CEO Tom Linebarger told The Republic, adding that initial production runs will be for school bus, commercial van and small cargo hauler engines. The factory is expected to begin making engines for Nissan next year.

When the Nissan deal was announced last year – which will make a Cummins 5.0L V8 Turbo Diesel an option in the Titan – Cummins says additional production could add up to 500 workers over the next few years.
