2015 Ford F-150 Designer Offers Clues to New Model
Although we won’t know anything official about the 2015 F-150 until the 2014 Detroit Auto Show, there have been some clues seen with the Atlas concept truck shown at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show.
“With trucks, every surface and feature must be crafted for utility while retaining an unmistakable Built Ford Tough look,” said J Mays, Ford group vice president and chief creative officer.
“Trucks are similar to architecture, in that a building must clearly convey its use. Once inside the building, its layout needs to be practical, with intuitive features to assist the person occupying it.
“A truck operates the same way,” Mays says, “with intelligent design that can complement the lifestyle of the person driving it.”
According to a recent article in the New York Daily News, Mays dropped some more hints as to what to expect.
“Nothing goes out of style faster than new,” J Mays, Ford Motor Company’s vice president of design told the News.
Mays believes we’re in the midst of a “forward looking era,” both in terms of architecture and automotive design. “But there has got to be a balance. We can’t alienate core [F-150] buyers.”
Expect the definitive version of the next F-150 to appear in January, during the 2014 Detroit Auto Show.
