Hilltip, a manufacturer of road maintenance equipment, has rolled out its new line of IceStriker 8-15 Highway Combi Spreaders.
The high-capacity truck-mounted units can spray liquid de-icer or spread salt. Available with dry material capacities ranging from 8 to 15 cubic yards and liquid capacities ranging from 530 to 1,850 gallons, the IceStriker Lion is designed for highway and municipal winter maintenance operators, as well as large-scale contractor projects.
It comes standard with lateral liquid tanks, offering liquid de-icing, anti-icing and pre-wetting capabilities. Up to four front-mounted tanks can be added for greater capacity. An optional dual spray bar provides a 40-foot working width for de-icing applications.
The IceStriker Lion is available with either hydraulic or 24V/48V electric drive and the choice of a 20-inch-wide chain conveyor or extra-large dual augers to feed material to the spinner. A stainless-steel inverted-V reduces heavy start-up loads on the augers or conveyor, Hilltip says, while the standard automatic vibrator helps material flow freely. The spreader is also available with an in-cab adjustment for spreading symmetry, giving operators precise control over material distribution without leaving the cab or manually repositioning the spinner.
Powered byThe IceStriker Lion comes with Hilltip’s Strikesmart controller and HTrack tracking software, featuring GPRS two-way communication channel for remote monitoring, management and reporting capabilities. This control interface works in conjunction with existing central hydraulic systems installed on the chassis. To keep operators focused solely on driving, the optional Strikesmart Plus controller paired with the TempStriker sensor monitors current and forecasted weather conditions in real time, to recommend optimal material types and application rates automatically.
Numerous options are available, including an end-of-material alarm system, flip-down ladder with handrails, leg stands with hook lift frame, and a two-piece tarp mechanism for effortless opening and closing, , allowing customers to configure the unit to meet their individual needs.
The 304 stainless-steel construction and powder coating offers corrosion resistance. The IceStriker Lion comes in a high-visibility orange finish as standard. Alternative colors are available to accommodate various fleets.
