Volvo sells three LB Smith territories

Volvo Construction Equipment has sold its LB Smith dealership operations in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, eastern Tennessee and Tallahassee, Fla. ASC Construction Equipment USA of Charlotte, N.C., is buying the operations in all the regions except Virginia and Tallahassee. The dealership will serve its market area from 12 current LB Smith branch facilities in the following cities: Raleigh, Charlotte and Ashville, N.C.; Columbia, S.C.; Savannah, Atlanta and Augusta, Ga.; Mobile, Birmingham and Montgomery, Ala.; and Knoxville and Chattanooga, Tenn. Volvo CE is selling the Virginia LB Smith operations to McClung-Logan Virginia, a subsidiary of McClung-Logan Equipment, Baltimore, Md. The dealer will operate from current branch facilities in Glen Allen (Richmond), Salem (Roanoke), Chesapeake and Wise. Flagler Construction Equipment, Maitland, Fla., is buying the Tallahassee LB Smith dealership. In April, Flagler bought the LB Smith territories consisting of facilities in Orlando, Ft. Myers, Jacksonville, Ft. Lauderdale and Tampa. Volvo CE purchased the assets associated with L.B. Smith, its distributor for a majority of the East Coast, in May 2003. Volvo CE continued the operations of its former dealer under the name LB Smith while negotiating the sale and divestment of its territories.
