Scholarships available for vocational education or tools

If you know a student who is interested in a career in the construction industry or an employee who wants to learn a new skill on the jobsite, ConstructMyFuture.com wants to hear from you.

ConstructMyFuture.com is currently taking applications for its annual construction education scholarship program, which will award three one-time, $1,000 scholarships to be used toward construction education at a post-secondary level or the purchase of tools for an individual working in a construction field. Eligible candidates include students who are currently enrolled or accepted to a post-secondary vocational education program with a construction focus and those employed in a construction occupation.

ConstructMyFuture.com will judge registrants on their current and past involvement in the construction field, including technical classes taken during high school. The organization will give preference to students who prove current enrollment or acceptance into a post-secondary, construction-related program, which they must begin by fall 2006. Once awarded, the scholarship payment will be made directly to the institution or tool supplier. Funds must be refunded if the recipient does not remain in the program or job they specified for at least one year from the time the funds are received.

ConstructMyFuture.com is encouraging contractors and other construction industry professionals to help spread the word about the scholarships to prospective applicants and educators. The deadline for applications is Feb. 4.
