Leica Geosystems buys Australia-based Tritronics

Leica Geosystems has signed an agreement to acquire Australian company Tritronics. Leica expects the new property to extend its current machine automation portfolio for the mining segment and create an opportunity to market its existing mining and surveying products to Tritonic’s mining customer network. Tritronics’ automated production technologies include GPS-based navigation, wireless telecommunications infrastructure and Internet-based remote monitoring and configuration. Leica Geosystems says these technologies are attractive to its civil engineering customers as large engineering and construction projects become more automated.
