Trimble to buy 3D laser scanning company

Trimble announced last week it has signed an agreement to acquire a developer of terrestrial 3D laser scanning technology. Trimble is purchasing Mensi S.A., a subsidiary of EDF Environnement et Developpement S.A. of France, in a cash transaction valued at up to $7.3 million. The initial price is $3.9 million with additional payments based on revenue through 2007. Trimble said in a press release the 3D laser scanning technology will accelerate the development of new products that enhance productivity in surveying, engineering and construction markets. The transaction is subject to approval by French authorities.
