Genesis Equipment forms subsidiary to provide replacement mobile shear blades

Born out of a demand for Genesis shears, Blades by Genesis, a newly formed subsidiary of Genesis Equipment and Manufacturing, is taking orders for its replacement mobile shear blades. The replacement blades fit Stanley La Bounty MSD 40, 50, 70 and 100 Series B and Series III mobile shears.

The blades are constructed of proprietary alloy, which has been forged and machined for maximum wear-resistance. Before offering the blades to the public, Blades by Genesis put the shear blades through a year of field testing. One of the many applications the company used to test the strength included processing of rail cars.

“We’ve had them at work in several applications that we identified as the most severe for blade wear,” said Rob Schlichting, general manager for Blades by Genesis. “Blades by Genesis provided the wear improvements we predicted and remained totally within stringent specs throughout the period.”

For those who order replacement shears, Blades by Genesis is offering customers same-day shipping and free freight in North America. In addition to a blade-only service, the company will also offer a full wear-part kit containing primary and secondary blades, shim kits, fasteners, piecing tip and wear blades. Discounts for annual purchases and “keep full” program members will be available.

“This is an outstanding opportunity for mobile shear users, particularly those still using Stanley LaBounty models, to improve their replacement blade quality and do so at a nice savings,” Schlichting said. “The combination of savings and improved blade life – often by as much as 30 percent — can be a big plus, particularly in the current economic climate.”
