Caterpillar upgrades excavator to Series II

The Caterpillar 365B L hydraulic excavator has been replaced with a Series II machine with 5 percent more horsepower and 19 percent more lift capacity. The Series II model is powered by the same 404-net-horsepower Cat 3196 diesel engine but gets its increased capacity from software changes in the ADEM II control system. The boost in lift capacity was achieved by larger boom cylinders and a new geometry for the stick cylinder on the reach boom. The 365B L Series II weighs 150,200 pounds, digs to 31 feet deep and has a maximum bucket force of 74,200 pounds and a maximum stick force of 62,200 pounds.
