Tally Systems is announcing the newest version of its Earth Works excavation software, which allows users to calculate cut and fill volumes from a digital or CAD image. Previous versions required the user to input existing and proposed data from a set of paper blueprints using an electromagnetic digitizer board. The user would then trace contours and input spot elevations and building pads using the digitizer’s electronic pen. The new version will take advantage of blueprints provided in digital format on CD. Eliminating the need to input data from a digitizer reduces calculation time even further, allowing an estimator to potentially calculate an entire project within 15 minutes.
