
The American Public Works Association (APWA) announced 25 winners of its 2016 Public Works Projects of the Year on the first full day of the Public Works Expo (PWX) in Minneapolis
“The APWA Project of the Year recognizes the alliance between the managing agency, the contractor, the consultant and their cooperative achievements,” the association says.
Projects are presented in five categories, including Disaster/Emergency, Environment, Historical Restoration, Structures and Transportation. APWA also added Small Cities/Rural Communities this year, that are for cities and counties with populations smaller than 75,000. The association created it to promoted “excellence” for agencies “demonstrating creativity, ingenuity and efficiency in the delivery of public works projects that have a profound impact on the community.”
