South Carolina’s Senate confirmed Christy Hall as the state’s new secretary of transportation. Hall had been serving as acting secretary since July of last year and was appointed by Gov. Nikki Haley to the position in October.
“I am honored to serve … South Carolina and I greatly appreciate Governor Haley providing me this opportunity to lead the dedicated men and women of the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT),” Hall said.
Hall previously served as SCOT deputy secretary for engineering and was responsible for managing all engineering operations for the agency.
She also served as acting secretary of transportation from February to May 2014 and was the deputy secretary of finance and procurement from 2011 to 2014.
She first began working at SCDOT in road design, holding several management positions including program manager, district construction engineer in the agency’s District 3 and district engineering administrator in District 2.
