An Alabama road worker was killed and another one was seriously injured just as they were finishing up work on Thursday.
According to the Gadsden Times, the two workers were preparing to reopen the right lane on the northbound section of Interstate 59 where resurfacing was taking place when the crash happened. The two men were moving a sign when a car hit the sign and the workers.
Joshua Goodwyn, 44, died at the scene of the wreck, and his 23-year-old coworker with Good Hope Construction was transported by helicopter to a hospital.
The driver of the vehicle that struck the two construction workers was not injured in the crash.
This marked the 11th traffic fatality Alabama State Troopers had responded to since the beginning of the new year.
