3M donated $20,000 to fund scholarships for the children of roadway workers killed or permanently injured on the job.
The company donated the money through its 3M Visibly Safer Work Zones Project, which has supported scholarship programs for four years from the American Traffic Safety Services Foundation and the American Road and Transportation Builders Association Transportation Development Foundation, according to an announcement from 3M.
The 3M Visibly Safer Work Zones Project has donated a total of $50,000 to the ATSSF’s Roadway Worker Memorial Scholarship and the ARTBA-TDF’s Lanford Family Highway Worker Memorial Scholarship.
“At 3M, we are committed to improving safety for roadway workers and motorists,” 3M Traffic Safety and Security Division vice president and general manager Paul Acito said in the release. “We are proud to contribute to these scholarship funds, even as we work to create new innovations that we hope will one day eliminate the need for them.”
The project donated a portion of its sales of 3M Diamond Grade Fluorescent Orange Reflective Sheeting during National Work Zone Awareness Week March 23-27 to the scholarship funds.
