The Association of Equipment Manufacturers has added important updates to its compact excavator safety manual, which is now offered in a Spanish/English version.
The 52-page manual features a new section on trenching safety, and AEM has expanded the sections on safe mounting and dismounting; utility locating practices; attachment installation; quick coupler installation, use and maintenance and new safety design features. Ranking for “construction machinery operator” in CareerCast’s list of 200 jobs, based on income (estimated at $40,000 for operators), working environment, stress, physical demands and job outlook. Bottom of the list positions included mail carrier, photojournalist, child care worker and emergency medical technician.
The amount that traffic congestion is now costing the U.S. economy annually. The record-breaking figure includes 5 billion hours of lost time and 4 billion gallons of wasted fuel, according to the Texas Transportation Institute’s annual “Urban Mobility” report, released in January.
