Two of Kenworth Truck Company’s manufacturing facilities have earned certification for environmental management systems. The Chillicothe, Ohio, and Renton, Washington, facilities have earned ISO 140001:2004 certification for effective environmental management systems established to build Class 8 trucks in an environmentally sustainable manner.
ISO 14001:2004 is an international standard that provides guidelines and requirements, and uses a third-party auditor to ensure a company’s environmental management system is working effectively. The auditor for the Chillicothe and Renton facilities was conducted by SGS Systems & Services Certification.
“The facilities have successfully implement systems designed around the theme of ‘Reduce, Reuse and Recycle’ to decrease emissions, noise and waste sent to landfills,” says Marilyn Santangelo, assistant general manager for operations, Kenworth.
