But according to CBC News, those traveling on the Trans-Canada Highway in New Brunswick, Canada, recently found themselves in this situation.
Around 3:40 a.m. July 7, police were called about a backhoe, without any lights on, creating slow-moving traffic on the highway. Officers attempted to get the backhoe to pull over, but the driver would not comply. This led to a low-speed chase, with the driver swerving into the guardrail several times.
The chase ended when police were able to deploy a spike belt to take out the machine’s tires. The driver was arrested and facing several charges including evading a police officer.
Officials estimate damage to the guardrails will cost $5,000 to $8,000 to fix, not including damage done to the road itself.
Police believe alcohol was a factor in the chase.
