New trucks feature advanced transmissions and longer lifecycles

Komatsu is rolling out two new dump trucks: the 61-ton HD465-7 and its big brother the 69-ton HD605-7. Weighing in at 242,290 pounds, the HD605-7 is powered by a six-cylinder, 715-horsepower Komatsu SAA6D170E-3 engine. The K-Atomic electronically controlled, seven-speed transmission automatically selects the best gear according to vehicle speed, engine rpm and the shift position. This eliminates shift shock and torque cut-off to improve efficiency and productivity. Travel speed tops out at 43.5 mph.

The 217,820-pound HD465-7 truck also features the K-Atomics transmission technology and the Komatsu 715-horsepower engine. A new, airtight, fully hydraulic front brake system on the HD465-7 boosts brake performance and minimizes maintenance issues such as freezing and debris in the brake lines.
