Power and productivity up, fuel consumption down in new loader

The new PC400LC-7 hydraulic excavator from Komatsu is powered by a 330-horsepower engine that increases productivity by 8 percent and decreases fuel consumption up to 20 percent over the dash 6 version of this machine, thanks to an electronically controlled fuel injection system. Four work modes – active, economy, lifting and breaker – adjust engine response to the job at hand. And boom operation can be set on either smooth or power modes for finesse or hard grunt work. The bucket reaches a maximum digging depth of 30 feet, 4 inches and a dumping height of 26 feet, 9 inches. An optional variable track gauge improves lateral stability by 30 percent and makes the PC400LC-7 easier to trailer and transport. To maximize uptime and reduce maintenance costs, engine oil and filter service intervals have been extended to 500 hours and hydraulic oil filter changes were increased to 1,000 hours.
