Rear-mounted GNSS antennas determine the machine’s position.Liebherr’s crawler and wheeled excavators can now be factory equipped with 2D and 3D machine control systems as the result of a partnership with Leica Geosystems.
The optional system can be added to Liebherr’s Generation 6 and Generation 8 excavators featuring both mono and two-piece booms and includes the ability to integrate a tiltrotator or hydraulic tilt bucket. Customers can also choose to pre-wire a machine to give them the ability to retrofit a machine control system later on.
The split display view on the Leica 3D system allows operators a top view in 2D or 3D (left display), a transverse view for the desired inclination (upper right) and a longitudinal view for planning work (lower right).The Lieca iCON iXE2 2D machine control system displays the bucket’s actual position relative to design elevation and slope, allowing users to reach the design grade faster. Leica’s iCON iXE3 3D system shows real-time project data and associated work tasks on the machine display.
