Unless Congress takes action, the legislation that authorizes federal highway and transit programs will expire on Sept. 30, says the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO).
To call attention to the actions that must be taken by Congress to keep federal highway and transit programs operating and thousands of American workers on the job, representatives of state departments of transportation will hold a news conference on Aug. 23, at 10:45 a.m. in Louisville.
Susan Martinovich, director of the Nevada Department of Transportation and president of the AASHTO, will be joined by members of the Southeastern Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials to stress the importance of quickly reauthorizing the Safe, Accountable, Flexible, and Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users (SAFETEA-LU).
