At the International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) Summit on March 25, David Shipman, chairman of UK-based AFI-Uplift, announced his company would commit £25,000, around $38,000, to a national campaign designed to promote the benefits of powered access. Shipman asked 200 other members at the summit to contribute a total of £75,000, around $114,500.
Shipman says “pressures on rental rates will intensify,” and explained the decline of access rental demand in the UK. He estimates activity levels have decreased by 15-20 percent from their 2008 peak and rental rates have dropped 10-20 percent in the UK.
