If there were ever a good example of why the government should stop trying to do feel-good, small bore projects this is it. The numbers are coming in on the home weatherization portion of the stimulus bill, aka the cash for caulkers program and it appears that for each home weatherized the government has spent $57,362. The $5 billion dollar program has only weatherized 9,000 homes thus far and the government is blaming “red tape.” Whose red tape might that be?
