Smith Electric to produce zero-emission trucks in Kansas City

Smith Electric Vehicles U.S. is planning to assemble all-electric zero-emission commercial vehicles at the company’s headquarters in Kansas City, Missouri.

The new assembly plant is expected to create 120 jobs by 2010 and will be located at a site of an airline overhaul base at Kansas City International (KCI) Airport. The first zero-emission commercial trucks are scheduled to begin production during the third quarter of 2009.

The 80,000-square-foot plant represents a $10 million investment for SEV.
