Regardless of what you think about oilman T. Boone Pickens, he’s spot on when he says we should run our heavy diesel trucks on compressed natural gas. The only drawback to such a plan is you need to build an infrastructure to do so, but that couldn’t be any more challenging than the infrastructure we’re soon going to have to develop for SCR urea supplies.
After that, CNG is all gravy: much less pollution, lower carbon footprint and best of all for the economy, the money stays in country. The United States, as some have said, is the Saudia Arabia of natural gas.
