ARTBA-TDF now accepting nominations for 2009 Globe Awards

The American Road & Transportation Builders Association Transportation Development Foundation (ARTBA-TDF) is accepting nominations for its 2009 Globe Awards. Established in 1998, the Globe Awards honors environmental protection and mitigation excellence in the United States transportation and construction industries.

The 2009 Globe Awards will recognize:

  • private-sector firms and public-sector transportation agencies that do an outstanding job in protecting and/or enhancing the natural environment in the planning, design and construction of U.S. transportation infrastructure projects; and
  • transportation construction-related product manufacturers and material suppliers that use exemplary environmental processes to protect and enhance the natural environment.

Eligibility Requirements:
Anyone may nominate candidates in either of two categories;

  • surface transportation projects that have been completed in the two-year period prior to the award deadline; and
  • organizations that have exhibited creativity and innovation in environmentally responsible manufacturing, production, resource extraction or other processes within two years prior to the award deadline.

Winning entries will be notified approximately one month in advance. The awards will be presented May 18-20 at a special ceremony during the 2009 ARTBA Federal Issues Program in Washington, D.C.
