Ingersoll Rand posts strong second quarter earnings

Ingersoll Rand’s second quarter income jumped sharply compared to last year, company executives announced. Net income rose from $313.5 million in the second quarter of last year, or 95 cents per share, to $964.1 million, or $3.17 per share, for the same period this year.

The additional income can be attributed largely to the sale of Ingersoll Rand’s road development division, which accounted for a gain of $2.22 per share.
