With aluminum and copper materials reaching an all-time high of $4.11 per pound in July, construction and demolition sites have begun experiencing an abundance of thefts across the nation. According to The San Francisco Chronicle, there have been thefts of $50,000 worth of copper plumbing and wiring from Oakland jobsites, as well as $4,000 worth of heavy-duty copper cable for elevators taken from the Rotunda Building near Oakland City Hall.
