DaimlerChrysler looking to sell heavy diesel unit

DaimlerChrysler has begun the process of selling its MTU Friedrichshafen heavy diesel motor unit and has no preference on whether an industrial or financial buyer wins, the head of its commercial vehicles division, Andreas Renschler, told Reuters. Daimler bought out minority shareholders in MTU this year to end debate over how to sell off the $1.2 billion unit. There is no timetable for the sale, according to Renschler.
