Scrapers haul more, conserve fuel

John Deere carry-all and fixed-blade ejector scrapers combined with the company’s scraper-ready, four-wheel-drive tractors move up to 36 cubic yards of material per cycle when used in tandem. The scraper-tractor setup eliminates the need for a push dozer and moves material with less fuel burned than self-propelled scrapers, according to the company. The scrapers include seven models with heaped capacities ranging from 15 to 18.3 cubic yards and offer 10-, 12- and 14-foot cut widths. For maximum flotation and low ground pressures the scrapers use large, 20.5-by-25-inch tires.
