Polaris opens product development center

Polaris has opened a 126,000-square-foot product development center in Wyoming, Minn. Research, development and testing at the facility will include prototype fabrication and assembly, structural testing, electrical development, materials engineering and powertrain assembly and dynamometer testing. Future enhancements will include a noise and vibration laboratory and test tracks for motorcycles and all-terrain vehicles. Tom Tiller, chief executive of Polaris, says the new center is the single largest investment the company has made in product development. Polaris will employ 143 engineers and 54 managers, administrative and other staff at the facility by the end of 2005.

The center was designed to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification.
