New C series excavator increases horsepower

A Cat C13 ACERT engine boosts horsepower 7.5 percent in the new Caterpillar 345C L excavator compared with the 345B series II it replaces. The extra horses boost hydraulic system pressure and increase breakout force for better productivity. Ownership costs were reduced by using Cat’s greased, lubricated track and extended service intervals for fluids and filters. The 345C L weighs about 97,000 pounds in the fixed-gauge configuration and 101,000 pounds in the wider variable-gauge configuration. Bucket capacity measures 2.48 cubic yards.
