The new D21A-8 and D21P-8 crawler dozers from Komatsu were designed for slope work and fine-grading applications using a hydroshift transmission married to 40-horsepower Komatsu engines. The D21A-8 weighs 8,680 pounds and pushes a 0.75-cubic-yard blade. The 9,530-pound D21P-8 offers a 0.89-cubic-yard blade. Both are light enough to be towed on the same size trailer used for a skid steer and don’t require a CDL for trailering. Long tracks aid stability and optional rubber tracks protect concrete and paved surfaces. The D21P-8 features a wider undercarriage for improved flotation and reduced ground pressure.
