JCB chairman turns over managing director role

JCB chairman and managing director Sir Anthony Bamford will turn over the role of managing director to the company’s chief executive, John Patterson, Dec. 1. Bamford has held the two posts for 29 years, succeeding his father, Joseph Cyril Bamford, who founded the company in 1945. Bamford said the change in responsibilities recognizes the excellent job Patterson has done in leading the company and better reflects the JCB’s internal management structure. Bamford will continue to be actively involved in the company on a day-to-day basis. Patterson joined JCB in 1971 as a service engineer before rising through the ranks.
