John Deere produces 5-millionth engine

John Deere announced Oct. 15 it has built its 5-millionth engine. The company celebrated the production milestone at its facilities in Iowa, France, Mexico, India and Argentina. John Deere first began producing gasoline engines when it purchased the Waterloo Gasoline Engine Company in 1918. The first Deere diesel engine was manufactured in 1949. John Deere Power Systems manufactures 49- to 600-horsepower diesel engines for off-highway use.
