Czech government OKs Terex, Tatra merger

The Czech Anti-Monopoly Office announced Oct. 20 it has approved the merger of Terex and Czech truck maker Tatra. U.S. firm SDC bought a 91-percent stake in Tatra when it was privatized in 2001. Terex acquired 20 percent of Tatra in exchange for money it had lent SDC to purchase the company. Terex bought another 51 percent of Tatra this summer, while the Indian firm Vectra purchased 21 percent.
