Caterpillar contract could save plant

A $20 million contract to build forklifts for the Air Force could save Caterpillar’s Clayton, N.C., plant. The deal is expected to save the 700 jobs that remain at the facility. Caterpillar will make about 160 adverse-terrain forklifts, which will be used in military applications worldwide.
